Tippee Toes welcomes you to their baby massage classes. I am a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (C.I.M.I.) with the International Association of Infant Massage (I.A.I.M.). I am also a member of, and insured through, Independent Professional Therapists International (I.P.T.I.) and I am fully CRB clearance checked.
As an IAIM instructor, I follow the programme devised by Vimala McClure, founder of IAIM. This programme is now taught in over 40 countries and has shown to be of great benefit to all babies, including premature and those with special needs.
My classes are more than just a massage class. Through the IAIM, I promote nurturing touch. Massage may not be suitable for all babies so I will demonstrate alternative ways of touching and connecting you with your baby. Classes also involve light-hearted discussions to bond the group together and to make it fun, relaxed and comfortable for everyone attending.
My course consists of four sessions, anywhere between 60 minutes and 90 minutes per week. In the 4th week (last week) of the programme, we will have a little 'graduation' where we massage along to soft music, you receive a completion Certificate and we have some fantastic bubbles to end the programme.
I keep classes small, accepting only 8 parents/carers and babies at a time. This gives it a very personal touch which allows other parents/carers to get to know one another, it also means I am able to fully concentrate on each person individually. Smaller classes also reduces the noise level that a much larger class may have.
Please note that it is very acceptable for babies to cry during class. Babies cry to communicate and we embrace this and try and assist where possible in order to meet your child's needs. Please also note that I NEVER massage your babies, I have my own massage doll, Suzy, who is my little baby for each session so all my strokes are demonstrated on her! In addition to the massage strokes, we participate in nursery rhymes and beautiful lullabies. Babies love the sound of their parent's voice. It creates a wonderful calm atmosphere and teaches parents and carers new songs to sing at home with their little ones.
